Kano, Sept. 7, 2011 (NAN) The Kano State Government on Wednesday said that it had selected three airlines to airlift its 6,973 intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia during this year’s Hajj operation.

The selected airlines are Kabo Air, Meridian Airline and Max Air.

The Executive Secretary of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Laminu Rabi’u, said  this at the opening of an induction course for  intending pilgrims in Kano.

He said the induction course, which was being conducted for  intending pilgrims in the 27 designated centres across the state, was designed to update their knowledge on basic Hajj rites.

Rabi’u  called on all participants to make the best use of the opportunity to enable them refresh their knowledge on the best way to conduct their religious activities while in the Holy Land.

“The importance of this workshop cannot be over emphasised because as Muslims,  we cannot serve God without the required knowledge,’’ he added.

The board, he said, had already secured befitting accommodation for the intending pilgrims  near the Ka’aba mosque.

The executive secretary also urged all intending pilgrims, particularly women, to ensure that they participated in  the vaccination exercise. (NAN)
