FG retires 3 at TCN, PHCN

Abuja, April 2, 2012 (NAN) The Federal Government on Monday announced the immediate retirement of the Managing Director of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Mr Akinwunmi Bada and two others.
A statement by Mr Greyne Anosike, the Head of Press Unit of the Ministry of Power said the other officials affected were the PHCN's Executive Director, Human Resources, Mr Olushoga Muyiwa and Mr Uzoma Achinanya, the company's Market Operator.
The statement quoted the Minister of Power, Mr Barth Nnaji as saying that the government had also approved the appointment of Mr Shola Akinniranye as the new Managing Director of the company while Mr Evarestus Mogbo would be responsible for market operations.
The changes were explained by the minister as necessary and a part of the renewed efforts toward achieving adequate and effective power supply nationwide.
Nnaji charged the new appointees to strive towards meeting the energy requirements of the country and to avoid any form of disruptions in power generation and supply.
The statement also indicated that the minister had directed the chief executive officers of the power companies to ensure the payment of the 50 per cent salary increase to PHCN workers nationwide.
Nnaji assured that all problems relating to gas supply for effective power supply in the country were receiving speedy attention. (NAN)
